TAQA Set to Leave Abu Dhabi Bourse After Full Takeover by ADPC

Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) is preparing to exit the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) after Abu Dhabi Power Corporation (ADPC) completed the acquisition of the remaining shares, giving it full ownership of the energy and utilities company.

TAQA’s board has approved the proposed delisting following confirmation that the compulsory acquisition process for the outstanding shares has been completed. The company will proceed with the removal of its shares from ADX once the necessary regulatory requirements and approvals have been finalised.

The development follows ADPC’s earlier purchase of a 98.12% stake in TAQA. Under the subsequent mandatory acquisition process, the remaining shares were purchased at Dh2.70 each, allowing ADPC to consolidate its ownership of TAQA at 100%.

The change will bring an end to TAQA’s status as a publicly traded company on Abu Dhabi’s main stock market. However, the delisting does not signal a withdrawal from the energy sector. TAQA will continue its operations across electricity and water generation, transmission and distribution, alongside its oil and gas interests.

The move comes as TAQA continues to expand investment in Abu Dhabi and international energy and infrastructure assets. The company recorded Dh27.5 billion in revenue during the first half of 2026, while EBITDA reached around Dh11 billion, representing growth of 7.7% compared with the same period a year earlier.

Net income attributable to shareholders also increased by 9.7% to Dh4.1 billion during the first six months of the year. At the same time, TAQA increased capital spending as it pursued projects across power, water and transmission infrastructure.

The completion of the takeover places TAQA under the complete ownership of ADPC and creates a new corporate structure for one of Abu Dhabi’s most important utilities and energy businesses. For investors, the delisting will end public trading in TAQA shares, while for the company, the transition provides a fully owned platform for its next phase of infrastructure and energy investment.
