Oman to Launch Golden Visa Programme on August 31 to Boost Investment and Residency Options

Oman is set to roll out its much-anticipated Golden Visa programme on August 31, 2025, offering long-term residency options to investors, entrepreneurs, and retirees. The initiative, part of the country’s Vision 2040 strategy, aims to attract foreign capital, diversify the economy, and enhance Oman’s position as a regional investment hub.

Under the scheme, investors will be eligible for either 10-year or 5-year residency permits, depending on the scale of their investment.

Two Residency Tiers:

  • Tier 1 (10-Year Residency) :
Requires an investment of at least OMR 500,000(approx. USD 1.3 million) in real estate, company shares, government bonds, or the establishment of a company employing at least 50 Omani nationals. The application fee is OMR 551.
    • Tier 2 (5-Year Residency) :
Requires a minimum investment of OMR 250,000(approx. USD 650,000). Expatriates already living in Oman may also qualify by demonstrating a monthly fixed income of OMR 4,000 or more. The application fee is OMR 326.

Benefits of the Golden Visa

The programme grants foreign nationals the right to own businesses outright without local sponsorship, purchase real estate in designated Integrated Tourism Complexes, and sponsor family members, including spouses, children up to the age of 25, and dependent parents.

Applications will be processed through the Invest Oman digital platform, with initial approvals issued by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) and final clearances provided by the Royal Oman Police (ROP). Processing is expected to take between three to six weeks.
