Bahrain Unveils $1.5 Billion Digital City Masterplan at Gateway Gulf 2025

Bahrain has unveiled a $1.5 billion masterplan for its ambitious Digital City development, as part of the Gateway Gulf 2025 forum. The project, submitted by the Beyon Group to the Urban Planning & Development Authority (UPDA), is set to transform the Hamala site into a nextgeneration mixeduse hub, combining research and development, education, commercial, residential, retail, healthcare, and hospitality facilities.

The masterplan includes approximately 70,000 m² of landscaped open spaces, integrated mobility solutions, and advanced digital infrastructure, reflecting Bahrain’s vision to become a regional centre for innovation and a knowledge-based economy. Officials said the development is a strategic initiative aligned with the Kingdom’s National Urban Development Strategy and is expected to attract global talent and investment.

Unveiled at Gateway Gulf 2025, which showcased over $17 billion in deals and announcements, Digital City Bahrain aims to position the country as a leading innovation hub in the Gulf. While the masterplan has been submitted for formal review, officials noted that detailed construction schedules, financing structures, and tenant strategies will be announced in the coming months.

Analysts say the project could significantly boost Bahrain’s economic diversification efforts, though execution will be closely watched given the scale and ambition of the development.
