Tata Electronics has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dutch semiconductor equipment leader ASML to advance the development of India’s chip manufacturing ecosystem. The collaboration marks a significant step in strengthening India’s ambitions to become a global hub for semiconductor production.
The partnership will primarily support Tata Electronics’ upcoming 300 mm semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat, which is expected to be one of India’s most advanced chip manufacturing facilities. Under the MoU, ASML will contribute its cutting-edge lithography technologies, which are critical for producing high-performance and next-generation semiconductor chips.
Both companies will also focus on building a robust semiconductor ecosystem in India by enhancing local technical capabilities, developing skilled talent, and strengthening the supply chain required for advanced chip production. The collaboration is expected to play a key role in accelerating the readiness and efficiency of India’s semiconductor manufacturing infrastructure.
This agreement comes at a time when India is actively pushing to reduce its dependence on imported chips and establish a self-reliant semiconductor industry. The partnership between Tata Electronics and ASML is being viewed as a strategic milestone in that journey, reinforcing confidence in India’s long-term manufacturing potential in the global technology landscape.
