Airbus Forecasts Middle East Aircraft Fleet to More Than Double by 2044

Airbus has projected that the Middle East’s regional aircraft fleet will more than double over the next two decades, driven by strong growth in passenger traffic and rising demand for long-haul travel. According to the company’s latest market outlook, the fleet is expected to increase from roughly 1,480 aircraft today to about 3,700 by 2044. Airbus attributes this expansion largely to sustained passenger traffic growth, estimated at an annual rate of around 4.4% across the region.

The manufacturer also forecasts a significant rise in the aviation services sector — including maintenance, training, and cabin upgrades — with the market value set to nearly double and reach close to USD 30 billion by 2044. Widebody aircraft are expected to play a major role in this growth, with Airbus projecting that these long-haul jets will account for more than 40% of total demand in the region, the highest share globally.

Airbus executives noted that the Middle East is steadily reinforcing its position as a global long-haul hub, supported by continued investments from major carriers and expanding airport infrastructure. The forecast comes ahead of the Dubai Airshow, where Airbus and Boeing are expected to compete for new orders amid renewed momentum in the aviation sector.
